High cost of appeasement politics

The first decade of the 21st Century has ended with confusion and contradiction in the camp of the multiculturalists. For more than half a century pseudo liberal establishment politicians, supported by national media outlets and hand wringing Bishops, have belligerently pursued their multicultural obsession. They have formulated laws (the Race Relations Act) to suppress freedom of speech and stifle debate or dissent. Those, such as myself, who oppose their doctrine are vilified as racist, fascist or extremist yet in July of last year the Church of England accused Government of favouring Muslim communities ahead of Christian groups.

More recently the Labour MP for neighbouring Pendle criticised plans for a Muslim girls boarding school in the former Burnley College building as being counterproductive for “community cohesion” but at the last Burnley meeting of the Full Council, Liberal Democrat Council Leader Gordon Birtwistle stated that he welcomed the project. On the same subject it is reported that the Bishop of Burnley finds that such a development “makes him weep” and he also claims that to avoid offending the Muslim community both Catholic and Church of England faiths held back from building their own faith schools in the aftermath of the 2001 riots. Given that Christian faith sponsored schools are more popular with discerning parents and are perceived to deliver a higher standard we can do no more than speculate as to what educational aspirations may have been achieved.

Instead we had Labour peer Lord Clarke of Hampstead (now under suspicion of expenses fraud) tell us we needed new schools to force our racial integration. He was supported by Labour, Liberal and Tory councillors, only the British National Party opposed the plan. The new schools were built, educational standards plummeted and council tax payers are saddled with a massive debt, such has been the cost of appeasement politics.

Now the minority Muslim fraternity not only reject the unworkable policy of enforced racial integration but seek to do so in the buildings we were told must be replaced because they were unfit for purpose. How much better for society if our Machiavellian political and religious leaders would admit their multicultural folly and redirect their bellicose energy to benefit the majority.

UPDATE
The Bishop of Burnley replied in the January 22nd edition of the Burnley Express, letters. The Bishop says he has no idea where the quote. “makes him weep” comes from and claims it is imagined.

John Cave’s response, I am impressed that no lesser champion of multiculturalism than the Bishop of Burnley deems it necessary to respond to my letter of the 12th Jan. I am less impressed that the good Bishop chooses to question my integrity when he suggests I may have imagined that the establishment of a Muslim girls school “makes him weep”.

As for what the Bishop describes as my false and erroneous claim that the Catholic and Anglican Church held back from establishing their own faith schools so as not to offend Muslims, I invite anyone to read the Telegraph story “on-line” and draw their own conclusions.
